Memorize Surah an-Naas and Study It

Memorize Surah an-Naas

ln the Name of Allah,
the All-Compassionate All-Merciful

1. Say: I seek refuge in the Rabb of mankind,

2. The Owner of mankind,

3. The [true] Deity of mankind,

4. From the wlckedness of the whisperer,

5. Who whispers Into the hearts of mankind,

6. From the jinn and mankind.

The first three verses contain mention of three of the Attributes of Allah His Lordship, His Kingship or Ownership and His Diety [i.e. that He Alone must be worshipped), for He is the Rabb of everything, the King or Owner of everything and everything was created to worship Him and all are His possessions and His, slaves. He ordered us to seek refuge in Him using these unique Attributes from the evil of Satan, who whispers in our ears; for no person has been created without a companion from the jinn who is always beside him, seeking to make the evil appear attractive to him and he spares no effort in his lies and fantasies and protection from Him is with Allah .

In an authentic narration the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم informed us: "There is none of you who has not been allocated a companion (from the jinn)." Bukhârï and Muslim reported on the authority of Anas , the story of Safiyyah's visit to the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم : He was making itikaaf and he left the mosque in order to escort her to her house, when he met two men from the Ansar, and when they saw the Prophet صلى الله عليه سلم , they hurried away, so the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم called to them: "She is Safiyyah, the daughter of Huyai."
They said: All-Glory be to Allah , 0 Messenger of Allah ! He said: "Surely, Satan walks with man as the blood flows, and I feared that he might whisper something (or sorne evil) in your hearts."

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said: Don't say: "Perish Satan!" because when you do, Satan becomes larger and says: "By my power I have defeated him!" but if you say: "Bismillah!" - Satan becomes smaller and smaller until he is like a fly. This was narrated only by Ahmad, but with a strong sanad.

In this Hadïth is proof that when the heart remembers Allah , it makes Satan smaller, while if Allah is not mentioned, Satan overcomes him and becomes stronger. (Who whispers lnto the hearts of mankind) That is, the devi1s from amongst the jinn and mankind as in the words of Him

"And likewise We made for every prophet an enemy (from) the mankind and jinn" (6:112)

The Messenger of Allah (~) also said: "0 Abo Dharr! Seek refuge from amongst the devils of mankind and the jinn." (Narrated by An-Nasâ't)

This is the end ofthe tafseer', all praise is due to Allah (~), and from Him proceeds all Grace. All-G1ory be to Allah, the Rabb ofthe worlds.
